Workshop Update

Our dedicated team of workshop and volunteer staff has been very busy over the past few months helping to maintain our large fleet of steam locomotives, carriages and wagons.

Both Zeus and Athelstan are currently receiving their major 10 year overhauls. Zeus in one of the mainstays of our railway in the busy summer season so the overhaul is being fast tracked to ensure the loco is back in service as soon as possible. The work includes a boiler re-tube, new wheels and work on the cylinders.

The first batch of replacement coach bodies are almost complete and these will form part of the new Olive coloured set. Considerable time and effort has been put in to ensure an excellent standard of finish and a predicted long life for these coaches.

Work has already commenced on a rebuild programme for the wagon fleet with the first wagon overhaul due to be completed shortly.

Finally, work has been completed on a new South Yard to provide covered dry storage for our heritage coaches and wagon fleet.
