Visiting Loco Weekend
Returning in 2025…
Our Visiting Loco Weekend saw a varied selection of visiting locomotives in steam alongside some of the Moors Valley Railway fleet.
Dates for the 2025 event will be announced later in the year.
Highlights from 2024
Visiting locos for 2024 were:
- Mrs. Darling – a Tinkerbell-based loco usually found at Swanley New Barn Railway
- Yeo – a 3rd scale model of a Manning Wardle Lynton and Barnstable locomotive, based at the Colne Valley Railway
- Tarn Beck – a River class loco from the Littledale Light Railway (operating Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday)
- Afon Glaslyn – another River class loco, built by the late Gerry Clarke
- Merlin – a Roger Marsh Thomas 2 design from the Chuffley Light Railway
- A Shay logging/mining replica locomotive with vertical cylinders
- Peter H – a large 2-6-2 tender loco constructed by South West Steam Engineering in 2021
As well as frequent passenger trains, visitors also enjoyed:
- Double heading on some services
- Demonstration trains pulling our freight wagon fleet and original Tucktonia covered coaches
- The Dorset Flyer service: a non-stop round trip from platform 1 at Kinsgmere Station – available exclusively to Day Rover ticket holders
